Homeowner Prep is a home readiness program for aspiring homeowners. We help renters become homeowners through real-world advice and accountability. Clients are paired with a trained financial coach and their financial coach will help them with budgeting, credit repair, saving for a down payment, qualifying for a home loan, and understanding the home buying process from beginning to end.

To qualify for Homeowner Prep you simply have to be a first-time home buyer and committed to the home buying process. If you haven’t owned a home in 3 years, typically you will be considered a first-time home buyer for some loan programs, so you are eligible as well.

The length of time depends on each client. Some clients join the Homeowner Prep program with great credit, some join with no understanding of credit… so the timeframe will depend on the readiness of each client. Our goal is to help you buy your first home sooner than you could on your own, so no matter your current financial circumstances, you will get the keys to your home faster with Homeowner Prep.

Thanks to corporate partners and donors, all of our programs are FREE. There may be some services needed that have additional costs during the coaching process (i.e. credit tracking software), but those will be programs and services recommended to clients depending on their unique needs.

The Homeowner Prep home readiness program starts with getting an assessment of our client’s financial needs and position. For the assessment, clients will be connected with a trained financial coach to help them establish a plan of action. The dedicated financial coach will follow-up with clients on a regular basis to ensure they are following through on their goals and celebrate each milestone.

Clients will remain in the program until they are fully approved to buy a home and will be connected with a local loan officer and real estate agent to help them find their first home. When clients get the keys to their home, then they will discuss next steps with their coach to leverage their home and create lasting generational wealth.
