Hello and welcome to another episode of the Homeowner Prep podcast. I’m your host, Eric Hellon, and on today’s episode, I just wanna do a quick recap of our Workshop on Wheels event in San Diego.

We had a great event. We had folks show up. We were able to see homes in the San Diego market. We broke bread together. We laughed together. You know, we got to see new development. I mean, we just, we did it all. You know, we did everything that we were expecting to do, but there was definitely some learning lessons from this first kickoff event, if you would.

The first thing that we noticed is that we had more people register than show up. Now, this is typical when you do events, but however, when we’re trying to actually charter a bus and fill that bus, we wanna make sure that we have enough people to fill it completely. We don’t want an empty seat for these events and so of the 14 people who registered, we only actually had 4 people show up, so we’re definitely gonna learn how to better engage and make sure that folks show up to each event and fill those seats.

The next thing that we were able to accomplish was actually getting into new development and a home that was actively on the market. Now, we would’ve loved to see just one more home, maybe a single family home on this first kickoff tour, but next time we know we need a little more time to see more properties. Getting into new development was definitely exciting. We definitely answered a lot of questions that first time homeowners had about the process, about what to expect and actually see the difference between a model home and a home that was actually being developed and the amount of upgrades that go into that home. So that was definitely helpful for first time home buyers to see.

The biggest thing and the biggest accomplishment I think that we had from this event was being able to answer questions. We know that folks have questions. We know that there are times when you just don’t know what’s going on. You don’t know what to expect as a first time home buyer, and so being able to answer questions about the loan process, down payment assistance programs, even like I mentioned the new development process, really just helped to solidify the process for folks who are looking to buy their first home. There’s a lot of questions that arise in this process, and we understand that, and so our biggest job is to educate, but also encourage those first time homeowners to take the first step.

We’re there to guide you through the process and help you every step of the way, and that’s really what Homeowner Prep is all about. So I wanna send a big, big thank you to all those who showed up for our first event. This was definitely a pilot kickoff program here in San Diego. Our hopes is that we can take this same program nationwide over time, and so as we start to have more events in the future, we’ll be sure to spread the word and get the word out there.

I do wanna say a special thank you to all those who participated. I mean, we had, of course the transportation company, we had our lender, Dion Westbrook, who was involved. We actually had our home inspector Calvin who was there answering questions, walking through properties for first time home buyers, you know, and so we just really wanted to say thank you to those who showed up and were able to help those first time home buyers. Also, we had Regina from KB Homes who was really a big, integral part of what we were doing. And last but definitely not least, we had Brandon from Linked Preview who’s putting together a recap video as we speak. So we’ll be looking forward to getting that out and showing the world exactly what it was like to enjoy that event.

One special shout out I do want to give is to the Desamours. The Desamours are social media influencers, they are close friends, clients of mine, and they showed up to the event and captured a lot of great video, photos that we can use to promote the event and really spread the word. So thank you. Thank you, thank you.

A special thanks goes out to all the organizations that helped us to put on the event, to spread the word about it. To just support, you know, we actually got a lot of support in the local community here in San Diego. And then of course, last but definitely not least, are the donors who made the event possible. Thank you. Thank you so much for making your donations to our nonprofit organization, it really helped us to put on a successful event as we planned, we didn’t have to cut any corners. We did everything we expected to do because of your support, so thank you so much.
